Video interview: Andy Stegner of AT&T
It's a really exciting time for APIs. In an interview with Andy Stegner, Product Owner - Mobility Network APIs at AT&T during the Aduna Summit in Madrid, Andy explains that the three biggest carriers have come together and all recognize that scale is key in this industry, and that they are not actually competing in this environment particularly.
They each have their own customer sets, but all want to deliver the best APIs and the best capabilities to all of their customers. And they are enabling customers demand for these capabilities to drive engagement with each other, to ensure that they are really solving problems for their enterprise customers. And it's working.
Andy also discusses the importance of standardization, and with standards driven by the GSMA it's really allowed the carriers to take away some of the friction and pain points that customers have experienced.
Finally, Andy shares his views on the next 12 months and says we are going to see a lot of continued growth in the fraud and identity space, as well as across different industries. As carriers continue to build incremental APIs, we now move from an individual API standpoint to a portfolio, or a suite of APIs, that gives customers many different signals with the same end goal.
Andy feels there is a lot of opportunity, and there is a lot of CAMARA APIs out there. But the key is they're going to let customers dictate where they build supply.
